Drop-In Sew
Drop-In Sew is designed for you to come in and rent a machine to work on projects. In from out of town and need to repair but don’t have a sewing machine? Use mine for $5 per hour. Have kids running around and can’t seem to make time to work on your projects? This is a perfect solution for you to get time!
Drop-In Sew – Fees and Costs
Rental options:
Table Rental – Sewing machine rental & use of space – $5 per hour
Serger add-on $10 per hour (additional)
Add the Coverstitch Machine $15 per hour (additional fee – we only have one available)
Table Rental with Assistance – This is not a private lesson. – $15 per hour
I will be available during this time to help with a project (pattern, how to fit, help pin, answer confusing directions, etc.).
Every Tuesday from 12-530, and some weekends, we will have additional help for $15 an hour, including the sewing machine and table.
Please check the calendar for those weekends with assistance. You must also bring your sewing kit/supplies like bobbins and thread for the machines. For the sewing machines, we use Brother SA156 bobbins. If using my machine, I also request you have Gutermann thread; I carry it for $2 a spool.
For the sergers and coverstitch machines, you will need four spools for the serger and 3-4 for the coverstitch machine as well. I like this type of thread.
***If you need to use a sewing machine, serger, or coverstitch machine, you must know how to use them before coming to drop in. To book a private lesson on it first would be the best way to learn.
Fine Print – Since I am a small business, if you damage or break the machine, you will be responsible for fixing it or paying for a new machine.
Other Info about Drop-In Sew
You will have access to cutting tables, irons, and ironing boards. Each station has a Brother CS6000i and a Brother 1034D Serger. To use either machine, you must have taken the classes or comparable skills learned in those classes. The Serger is a separate fee, as well as the Coverstitch machine.
You will be responsible for your supplies and notions, such as thread and specialty needles (my machines always have a size 12 sharps/microtex in the machines). The studio does carry a wide variety of notions, patterns, fabrics, and supplies. You are also required to bring your sewing kit; if you do not bring one, you will need to purchase one from the studio.
Please bring your piecing foot, rotary cutter, and rulers if you are quilting. I do have self-healing mats available to use.
I do have some patterns, notions, and fabric for sale at the studio, but they are limited; I am not a full-fabric shop.
